What makes me different is my approach to therapy. I employ the SITCAP program. SITCAP stands for Structured Sensory Intervention for Traumatized Children, Adolescents, and Parents. It is a short-term, evidence based intervention. This method focuses on being a survivor rather than a victim. This approach utilizes a mind-body intervention that helps individuals move forward and grow rather than being stuck and reliving the events of the past.
Backed by 11 years of research and testing, the SITCAP program has helped restore a sense of safety, control and power to thousands of children and adults with PTSD.
If You’ve Suffered Trauma or Loss – You Are Not Alone
When your sense of safety and trust is shattered, something happens to you that you may not understand. Your life is different. You’re different. It may not be obvious right away. Sometimes it can take years for post-traumatic symptoms to emerge. Sometimes symptoms have been there all along, but you felt you could deal with them.
If you’ve suffered with long periods of depression, anger, anxiety, guilt, panic, nightmares, or thoughts of suicide, you may have post-traumatic stress disorder.
It’s possible you sought help with disappointing results. Perhaps your symptoms are misunderstood – diagnosed as something else such as clinical depression, bipolar, anxiety, obsessive-compulsiveness, or a personality disorder. In the case of children, diagnoses may include attention deficit and disruptive disorders, separation anxiety, reactive attachment disorder, oppositional defiant or conduct disorders.
If you or someone you know is suffering from post-traumatic symptoms, depression, anxiety, stress or anger, Newfound Hope Counselling Centre is here to help. We should talk. Please contact me today.
